We just got a folding bike! A few months back my bike was stolen right off the front of the public transportation bus. It was quite the traumatic experience, but in the end resulted in something good. I have been riding my bike to work for the last 4 years, rain, wind or shine, and recently, rowing the bike to shore, then riding it to work. I had 15,000 miles clocked, just to work and back. Needless to say, we needed to find a replacement bike and one that would work for sailing around the world. After many days of research, we chose to get a Brompton folding bike. A special thanks to all my co-workers at UCSF and a few friends outside of work who organized and donated toward my stolen bike replacement. We are so excited, this bike fits four out of five of us! We also have a Burley travoy trailer that attaches to the seat stem for making our grocery trips etc.

So glad you got a new bike. Can’t believe someone just stole your bike right off the bus. You are a trooper to be riding your bike to work everyday…FOR FOUR YEARS. You must be in great shape. Enjoy your new ride! Aunt Sue

How horrible to hear that your bike was stolen, especially in such a public way. I am glad you’ve gotten a bike for sea. We love our bikes (2 $50 used fold-ups that were originally about $300 each)…it is always a treat to get the bikes out

Funny, we just got our folding bike for our boat yesterday. The travoy trailer is just what I had been thinking we needed! Thanks for the post. It’s only been seconds since I found your blog (via Instagram) and I’m already learning. The ten of us should get together out there.
